Discussion Question 4 (October 27-November 03,2008)
Recently a serious economic crisis has broken out, causing all the stock exchange markets all over the world to collapse. The crisis has had a domino effect and started to show its negative impact on the business sector all the more strikingly. What are the main causes of this crisis? What do you think will be the short-term and long-term effects of this crisis on Turkish economy and the business sector, the way Turkish citizens live in society in general and the way you live in particular? What do you think the government authorities / Turkish citizens / you can do to lessen the negative impacts of the economic crisis? What type (s) of people do you think will be affected most and least negatively by this crisis?

Nowadays,`Economical Crisis` has become popular topic in many societies because it has become a big problem.Everybody want to comment about it even if they don`t have any idea.Some people claim that U.S. cause to crisis because they want it affect to Russia while some claim that it`s the end of capitalism.As we know U.S. has problem with Russia about dominating the world. It may be true that U.S cause to crisis.But,it`s a little bit comic to claim that it`s a turn of communism.Maybe,it has a same reason with Iraq massacre.How does the economical crisis exist is a very complex topic.It has a lot of reasons about which I don`t care and wonder.Everything in the world are like a game.Somebody plays game for his benefit and we just walk like a lunatic soldier.We don`t have an authority to do something.Therefore,what they want to to,it should be like they want.Off course,the economical crisis has an effect on Turkey.Turkish citizens should keep their money at home under their bed and should`t trust anyone if they don`t want to be affected by economical crisis.It`s good to damage yourself than others damage you.

Nowadays,all of us hear about''the economic crisis''almost everyday.You know that a crisis has broken out in U.S. and this crisis is spreading all over the world.This crisis is very important for the world's economy,so this crisis is the subject of all of the news.Lots of people are talking about the crisis.There are a lot of hypothesis about the reason of the crisis,but i will explain the ones which i hear most:
1)The banks send more money than essential to the market.
2)People are encouraged to buy real estate property or other comsumption materials,but actually people don't have the economic power to fulfil the consumption and they can't pay their debt.
As i said above,the crisis has broken out in U.S. and is spreading ll around the world firstly in Europe.The economy of the U.S is related to the whole world's economy,so when the economy of the U.S fluctuates,the economy is affected everywhere.Turkey's economy is affected,of course.Dolar has Jumped out and the balance in Turkey has begun to change.Ome people has owed to banks to buy a house or car.Some big fşrms has gone to bankrupt and lots of people has been unemployed.I think the effect will be long-term.Because to recover after such big effects isn't so easy.I think every type of people will be affected more or less.
Conseuently,we must be very careful when we but a real estate property etc.,in fact we must postpon to buy such things.For our happinss...
We all hear about global economic crisis in these days.It broke out in US but it effects every country around the world some or less.I don't know the real reasons of it but as I heard from the news ıt can has some big promlems in some countries.Goverment says it won't affect Turkey badly but I personally doesn't beleive this.there have begun changes in Turkish markets already.I think some urgent and effective measurement should be taken so that there won't be bigger promles...
Yes,a global economic crisis has broken out and spread all around the world.Nowadays everyone tries to solve this situation but nobody has succeded up to now.But what are the reasons for this economic crisis?As far as I know the main reason for this situation is the attitudes of banks towards people.Banks are giving huge amount of money as debt to people and people can't pay these debts so bank's situations become worse.This crisis is all around the world and also Turkey has been affected from it badly.The economic problem is global so we must solve this problem all together.
Global economic crisis is getting worse day by day.It's affecting almost every country around the world.Its most obvious indicator is the high petrol prices.Most of people in Turkey say that the economic crisis won't damage us as expected.But,I think it is inevitable that we will be affected by the crisis.Because trade makes us dependent on other countries,especially on America.We can also see its effects on our daily life.Food prices is getting higher day by day.Unemployement rate also is getting higher.Our currency is losing its value.To go thru global economic crisis with minumum damage,some precautions must be taken.Goverment should support turkish companies to produce their own items.Instead of imported items,we should use turkish brands.A sense of national pride should be promoted in schools.So that,people will be proud to use their own Turkish products.People should be encouraged to use public transports to reduce petrol consumption.Finally,if we bind together,there will be no obstacle that we can not get over.
As a 18 years old person living in Turkey, myself i really have an idea about what an economic crisis means and how it affects people s life in general...That what kind of a turmoil it leads, what kind of an affect it has upon people both socially and physicologicly...As for the economic crisis broke out in the USA recently, it is a little different than the one in 1999 because this time it s global and can chang the understanding and basis of the economy in the meaning we all have known to great extents.
Lets talk about the real reason for this turmoil in economy; basically the crisis started with the subprime mortgage crisis in the USA ; the crisis erupted because of shortcomings and flaws in the US mortgage system.Till now there has been lots of negative effects of it on many parts of the world and it has spread to the east Europe causing turmoil in the structure. As well as the negative outcomings of this crisis in general currencies of the countries, it has also led to lots of conroversies arying from the claim that this crisis may become an intentional action of the USA for fighting with Russia in the field of nomination the world to the belief that it may be the end of capitalism. These days in the USA people are concerned with voting for the next president of their country and they ll also make it clear if this crisis can be solved and if it is the death of capitalism because the two nominatees have different point of view on this topic; McCain believs that this crisis can be solved by protecting the big componies and subsiding them althought Obama believes in the importance of the high welfare of the people in general ; not just the big companies he considers the middle class as the solution. We can be able to guess what kind of a solution ll be put into practice only when the president of the USA is clear. This election is importand not only for the future of Usa itself; it is going to shape the course of events along the side of Turkey. Till now there has been incredible rise in the value of US dolar in Turkey and the stock keeps going down..If this problem is not solved properly on a large scale and in an effective way; It is certain that the ongoing global economic crisis will increase Turkey's borrowing costs and that the increased amount of international liquidity will have impacts on inflation. Individual and commercial loan interest rates will go up in domestic markets. Unless proper assurances are given to the markets, it looks the crisis will remain center stage.
Economic crisis has been an integral and indispensible part of our daily lives. Thus this one is not an exception or surprise to us actually. The collapse of US largest companies one by one had a great and also devastating effect on almost every country,including turkey and its financial connections. Here the question will be: “What are we going to do next and what can we do?
Firstly the causes of the crisis should be understood very clearly. According to the press, the collapse and budget deficits of the US companies caused the crisis. Yet, my personal belief is that the rich guys wanted to gain more and US based policies are intended to destroy the local investors in countries in Middle East, Europea and its ongoing enemy,Russia.
The effects of the crisis is very simiar to the previous crisis happened in Turkey. The small investors and companies will be devastated and the people who has taken debt with US currency will go bankrupt. As many countries use dollar ,because its the real currency of business sector, the rate of import will decrease and the cost of import products will increase with a direct effect on the public.
Honestly, there is not many precautions that the citizens can take as the crisis is something that is designed by powerful business circles according to the policies of the countries in which these great companies operate. My advice would be that: never take the dollar as basis when you are obliged to take debt or credit. For the ones who has already been indebted should wait at least one month untill the market cool down.
There is a certain tradition since the first time trade started: the poor will lose and the rich will be richer.taking this as the basis, great companies willnot be effected negatively under any circumstance. They have their own policies, investment specialists and economist. So before any evidence for the crisis is available, the administration will be informed about it and necessary precautions will be taken.
As a result, the reasons of the crisis is a little dark and invisible. On the long term, it can be compensated somehow. Yet as I have mentioned above, the ones who are wealthy won’t be effected negatively. Iwish the citizens of this country could be economists and predict what is gonna happen.
